Some Costa Titch collaborations... by Charles Wiese

Here a couple of tunes that have been on my daily playlist for some time now. Great beats from S. Africa.

I also recommend the original video for Uthini - I had posted the Cottonfest version above in lieu of the original…

Masterclass in Distortion... Gary Numan and more Igorrr by Charles Wiese

My ears have traveled many paths over the years. I have enjoyed the elegance of “pure” instrumentation, devoid of distortion. However, these past few years have opened up a whole world of appreciation for the power of masterfully wielded distortion. The density of the musical stew delights me. The work of Gary Numan is a case in point…

And another tune by Igorrr - so much to listen to!

I need some Tom Waits - how about you? by Charles Wiese

I realized today that I’ve been listening to the music of Tom Waits for over 45 years now. I’ve never grown tired of it. The first video is Hell Broke Luce - an ever timely response to the ridiculous perpetual funding of the military in America. Today’s news held forth on the billions included in what is supposed to be a pandemic relief bill put together in the US senate… supported by legislators from both sides of an all too narrow aisle. Superb visuals by a long time favorite photographer, Matt Mahurin.

Yes No Wave... by Charles Wiese

Amazing music from the other side of the world (for me). Senyawa (Calling the New Gods) was my introduction to some of what is happening on Java. Here are a couple of music videos worth watching and listening to…

And here is the link to Calling the New Gods., a film by Vincent Moon about the duo, Senyawa. Amazing music. I highly recommend their album “Sujud”.

45 has got to go... by Charles Wiese

It is going to take forever to rid the world of the damage the impotus, his enablers, and supporters have rained down on us all.

Timely videos by Todrick Hall... by Charles Wiese

I found Mr. Hall’s work when producing sound tracks for my nephew’s 50 States project. They (Nick Vaughan and Jake Margolin) were putting together a video installation that drew from the history of drag performers here in Houston (and elsewhere).

Kudos to Mr. Hall. Strong work - important messages. Ordinary Day is from the Forbidden project - I highly recommend it.

Kovacs! by Charles Wiese

I came upon her music a while ago and love her sound. Here are a couple of music videos - nicely done!

I love the use of incidental sounds in this…

Something musical and visual... by Charles Wiese

Here are a few tunes from S. America… good music and visuals to match.

The artist (Kati Egely) for Alegria did something else worth watching…

Lastly, a fine bit of work by Lido Pimiento. I first encountered her voice when she collaborated with the group A Tribe Called Red.

One more - a collaboration between Lido Pimienta and Chancho Via Circuito…
